DISCOVER OUR EXCEPTIONAL WORKMANSHIP

At Beara Beara, we create unique leather bags that celebrate heritage and origin, partnering with skilled artisans to blend tradition with timeless design.

We uphold our commitment to quality craftsmanship through four key elements: leather, stitching, and hardware.

Leather

Our brand is dedicated to quality and responsibility, which is why we use top-grain leather sourced as a byproduct of the meat industry. We’re pleased to announce that our primary tannery partner is now certified by the Leather Working Group, a standard that ensures environmentally responsible practices. This certification also guarantees that our leather does not come from farms involved in deforestation practices, such as those affecting the Amazon rainforest. With top-grain leather, we deliver products that are not only beautiful and durable but also crafted with respect for the planet and its resources.

Stitching

Our bags are crafted with attention to every detail, including the stitching, which is essential for durability and longevity. We use high-quality, durable threads designed to withstand daily use, ensuring that each seam remains strong and secure over time. This meticulous stitching not only reinforces the structure of our bags but also contributes to their aesthetic, adding subtle detailing that enhances their overall design. By choosing durable threads, we ensure that our bags not only look great but are built to last, providing our customers with a reliable and stylish companion for years to come.

Varnish

The final touch for any leather bag is a good varnish. Leather varnish is a fantastic way to protect and enhance the beauty of leather goods. It creates a smooth, polished finish that highlights the natural grain while shielding against scratches, water, and dirt. By sealing the surface, it prevents cracks and discoloration, helping our leather bags to age gracefully and long lasting.

Lining

The lining in our leather bags is crafted from soft micro velour, combining luxury with practicality. This material is stain-resistant, highly durable, and adds a plush touch to the interior, ensuring your belongings are well-protected. It’s the perfect complement to the timeless elegance of our leather designs.

We also use custom-made cotton check lining from Bolivia, crafted exclusively for us using locally grown Bolivian cotton. Featuring a checked pattern, it blends traditional British charm, combining authenticity with timeless style.

Hardware

Our bags are equipped with premium zinc alloy hardware, known for its lightweight strength and durability. Each piece of hardware is coated with a high-quality varnish to protect against wear and tarnishing, ensuring a long-lasting, polished finish. The alloy’s lighter weight makes our bags comfortable to carry without compromising on durability, while its versatility allows us to create unique designs. In fact, some clips and fastenings are custom-designed exclusively for our bags, allowing us to achieve a seamless blend of style and function. This careful attention to detail ensures that our hardware enhances the look and reliability of each bag, providing our customers with a stylish and enduring accessory.

Craftsmanship

We carefully refine each seam, edge, and lining to ensure our bags are as beautiful inside as they are outside. This meticulous attention to detail enhances durability and elegance, reflecting our commitment to excellence in every aspect. Our bags undergo a meticulous quality control process, where every seam, stitch, and component is thoroughly inspected to meet our high standards. This ensures that only impeccably crafted bags reach our customers, showcasing our dedication to superior quality.

MAKING THE MANJU

(with Ines)

On our last trip to our workshops in Bolivia, we made two little videos to show you how a bag is made from start to finish!

In this video below, Ines and our talented team takes you through the craftsmanship of our Manju handbag. You will see the step by step process from cutting the leather to precision edge painting, putting the pieces together and attaching the final stitch details. It’s a glimpse into the skill, care and dedication that goes into making each of our bags completely unique.

MAKING THE MURPHY

(with Jake)

In our second video, Jake shows you how our bestselling Murphy backpack is created, from the hand cutting of the leather and reinforcing materials, to the skiving process which adds dimension and depth through varying thicknesses of the material, and finally, the precise assembly of all the parts, stitched with meticulous attention to detail to form a strong, yet durable bond that can last for years of daily use and wear.
